During their recent two-week, fifth honeymoon excursion to Europe, Joe and Sande Spencer of Safety Harbor visited Lucerne, Switzerland; Prague, Czech Republic; and, Paris, France.

Above, the Spencers are pictured with Tropical Breeze at Lake Lucerne where they spent a week enjoying the Lucerne area and Mt. Pilatus (7,000 ft).

A side trip was taken to Engleberg where the Spencers toured a cheese factory at the monastery. At Mt. Titlis (10,000 ft.) in Engleberg, the Spencers walked on a glacier and into an ice cave. Tropical Breeze was also with the Spencers at the Courtyard to Prague Castle.

Prague proved to be quite an experience which culminated at the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square.

The couple also took a walking tour that included a luncheon cruise on the Vltara River featuring local Czech cuisine and folk dancing.

...And At The Grand Canyon

…And At The Grand Canyon

If you want to get your friends’ attention, just mention that you’re planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, according to Ray Weaver of Clearwater. “Almost everyone in the group will tell you their adventures there. And most people will state that they have been there more than once. Some people will advise you to take the helicopter ride over it, others will say to stay for several days and ride the Colorado River rapids.

Recently, my wife Ellie and I had the opportunity to visit the Canyon for the first time. We took a bus ride through the desert to the south rim. The pictures that you may have seen in books or on television do not prepare you for the majesty of the Grand Canyon. You must see it yourself to appreciate this miracle of nature.

The colors in the Canyon are unbelievable — shades of brown, green and violet are intermixed in an arrangement that only time and nature can create. The area of land that this wonder of the world covers is immense and it is over a mile down to the river.

If you are planning to go to the Grand Canyon be sure to check the expected temperatures at either the North or the South rim. Take a good pair of walking shoes and a jacket to compensate for the brisk winds at this higher elevation.

By the way, the four days that we spent in Las Vegas were exciting, but not nearly as memorable as the Canyon. If you have not seen this great sight, be sure to put it on your future agenda. And oh, yes, don’t forget your camera.”

Judi Honiker, a Clearwater resident, took Tropical Breeze along on a three-week journey to Colorado and New Mexico. While staying in Manitou Springs, Judi and her sister, Carol Carlson, visited Pikes Peak summit — 14,110 feet via the world’s highest cog railway. A crisp, clear day of only 10 above made for a spectacular 360 degree view. They also spent a day at the Garden of the Gods, a collection of unusual rock formations in the foothills west of Colorado Springs. The park is a sightseeing heaven and photographer’s dream, she said.
