When the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional
History staff decided to showcase the artists who make Safety
Harbor their home, they didn't fully realize the exciting results,
volunteer Ron Fekete said. Visitors can now take pleasure in an
amazing range of fabulous artistic talent currently on display at
the Museum. "How wonderful to discover in your own back yard, along
with artists well known, others creating hidden treasures you were
unaware of," Fekete said.
Michael Vollbracht, Bill and Linda Renc,
and Kiaralinda and Todd Ramquist are very well recognized in the
greater Tampa Bay area and beyond.
But other local residents
featured include Robert Apholz and Barbara Davis, artisans in
pottery and ceramics, along with miniaturist Rosalie Davies,
sculpture and jewelery by Joseph Spencer and two-dimensional
artwork by Jack Dennis, Zard Tompkins and Andrew Philyaw. Beautiful
art objects and masks created out of gourds are the work of
Philyaw's bride of more than 40 years, Sharon Philyaw.
Closing
this circle of wonderful artists, the museum is displaying
photography by Bernadette Menz and a sculpted hawk by David Tabor
that will "blow your mind," Fekete said. Safety Harbor Museum of
Regional History is located at 329 Bayshore Blvd. S., Safety
Harbor. Call 727-726-1668 or visit www.safetyharbormuseum.org.
