October 1 officially was designated "Hazel
Krager Day" in Safety Harbor by proclamation of Mayor Andy
Steingold and approval of the city commission. She was recognized
as a 40-year resident and longtime employee of the Safety Harbor
Resort and Spa who has made the city "a better place in which to
live."
Krager was saluted for her volunteer community service
efforts, including assisting neighbors and cleaning up trash,
debris and litter in varios areas of the city.
Before the city's designation, Safety
Harbor Elementary School had its own "Hooray for Hazel" Day on
Wednesday, Sept. 12 when students prepared handmade cards thanking
her for service as a volunteer at the school.
Students wore "Hooray
for Hazel" tags and gathered in the school's courtyard where
Principal Debbie Ramker presented a sign that said, "Hazel's
Garden 2007."
Krager was instrumental in organizing volunteers this
past summer to plant and rebuild flowering beds throughout the
school grounds.
