Jim and Patricia Pochurek of Palm Harbor, formerly of Safety Harbor, decided to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary by trading in their gas guzzler, buying a smaller RV with a diesel engine, and heading to Alaska to visit friends and go fishing.
In Fairbanks, they stayed with Barbara and Bob Dickey who were delighted to receive a copy of Tropical Breeze. The Dickeys, long-time Florida residents, became reverse snow birds and moved to Fairbanks, AK, year-round to live with family and enjoy their grandchildren.
The Pochureks drove more than 13,000 miles, went through 20 states, four Canadian provinces, and were gone almost eight weeks. They said that Alaska is absolutely beautiful, the people are hardy and friendly, and the halibut fishing was outstanding.
