Cables soar into an overcast sky during a recent crossing of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The Florida landmark currently is in the midst of a monumental repair project, which involves stripping away layers of paint from the cables and repainting.

Work is being conductedin enclosed scaffolding that prevents paint chips and debris or paint drips from falling onto the highway or into the waters below.
