Daniel Mineo Earns Eagle Scout Award |

Daniel J. Mineo, 15, of Boy Scout Troop 413, aSafety Harbor resident and currently a sophomore
at Countryside High School, was honored with Boy
Scout’s highest award, Eagle Scout, at a special
Court of Honor ceremony held Thursday, Oct. 25 at
Northwood Presbyterian Church, Clearwater. To
earn Scouting’s highest award, Mineo, who enjoys
outdoor activities, exceeded the required 21 merit
badges, earning 35 merit badges. He has served
his troop as senior patrol leader, assistant senior
patrol leader, patrol leader, scribe, instructor and
troop guide. His service project was renovating the
nature signs, building owl boxes and planting a tree
at Marshall St. Park in Safety Harbor. He also is
currently a volunteer at Mease Countryside Hospital
and is a student volunteer for Pinellas County teen
court. Mineo is in the top 35 of his class, is planning
on attending the dual enrollment program with St.
Petersburg College next year and has hopes of
attending the University of Florida in Gainesville.
