The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (SPCA) Suncoast Shelter in New Port Richey has announced
its first "Howliday Festival of Lights," presented by Animal Planet
Pet Video. During this event, the shelter will be illuminated with
thousands of holiday lights representing donations from the
community.
The SPCA Suncoast is asking the community
to show its Howliday spirit by sponsoring single lights for a
donation of $10 each, or an adoptable dog or cat's kennel for
$100. Local businesses are invited to also sponsor a kennel or
become an event sponsor. A light may be sponsored in honor or in
memory of a beloved person or pet.
For sponsorship information visit
www.SPCAsuncoast.org or call 727-643-3647.
A lighting ceremony and open house will
kick off the festival 5-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30. The evening also
will incorporate an open house with tours of the grounds, kennels
and kitty cabana, an adopt-a-thon (gift certificates for adoptions
are available), free Animal Planet pet I.D. tags, customized with
your pet's name, and donation drive. The festive light display
will continue throughout December.
The Holiday lights will be on every night
Nov. 30-Dec. 30. Readers are invited to visit the shelter to see
the newly improved facilities, learn how to prevent unwanted pets
and visit animals available for adoption. Donations also are sought
for the shelter animals' wish list. Donors will receive a free Cat
Sitter or Dog Sitter DVD, compliments of Animal Planet. Volunteers
will be on hand throughout the month to accept donations.
SPCA Suncoast is located at 7734 Congress
Street, New Port Richey; shelter hours are noon to 6 p.m. daily.
