TROPICAL BREEZE PHOTOS BY SUE SUBY
Fox 13, WTVT, brought its four-hour morning
show to downtown Safety Harbor for a live,
on-location broadcast on Friday, Oct. 26.
Anchors Russell Rhodes, Bill Murphy, Anne
Dwyer and meteorologist Dave Osterberg
set up an instant studio at John Wilson Park
and packed the Good Day Tampa Bay
program with information about the town
and interviews with numerous local
businesses. In addition to the live spots,
which also featured the Countryside High
School band, pre-taped segments featured
Philippe Park, the Baranoff Oak, the Ian
Tillman Skate Park, the Safety Harbor
Museum of Regional History, the Whimzey
House, Syd Entel Galleries and the Safety
Harbor Resort & Spa. Local businesses
featured included Bailey’s Naturals, the
McMullen Flower Shoppe, Dinner 4U and
local restaurants, including the Whistle Stop
Grill and Lincoln Heights Bistro. Anne Dwyer
received an on-air beauty treatment
courtesy of the Safety Harbor Resort &
Spa, which led her to quip that visitors to
Safety Harbor could get a little “sump’nsump’n,”
a comment that brought the cast
and crew to hysterics as the show went to
commercial, leaving a red-faced Dwyer
protesting, “I didn’t mean it like that, guys!”
