The Safety Harbor Museum has announced its 9th annual Highwaymen Event, coming Sunday, Jan. 6, will include the Delaplane collection, a private collection of Highwaymen paintings that have never before been on public view. The exhibit also includes a painting by "Bean" Backus, the New York-trained professional artist born and raised in Ft. Pierce, FL, who taught many of the first of the eminent African-American artists.

The event also will be held for the first time at the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, 105 N. Bayshore Dr., Safety Harbor, which will co-sponsor the event. All of the paintings on view will be for sale.

A special Highwaymen exhibit will be at the museum Jan. 6-Mar. 31. At various times during the exhibit, some of the artists will be present at the museum, painting and demonstrating their techniques. Call 727-726-1668.
