Safety Harbor Charters Sets Sail, Safety Harbor's Newest Attraction E-mail
Saturday, 01 December 2007

A long time dream of Safety Harbor resident, Mark Smith, has come to fruition. Safety Harbor Charters has set sail in this quaint city on the bay. And all who visit and live here can now access these tranquil waters.

Captain Mark's dream began in England. His fascination with the sea blossomed with family trips to the Cornwall coast and the Canary Islands. As a young man, he joined the ranks of the Royal Yacht Association. But his heart yearned for the warm waters of the Caribbean, so he set off from his native homeland to places most just visit and hate to leave. His travels took him to Turks & Caicos, the Cayman Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. He now calls Safety Harbor home, and has found paradise here in this gem of a city with his wife, Debra, and their young son, Marley Bay.

Family owned and operated, Safety Harbor Charters operates daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for day cruises, and 5-11 p.m. for enchanted sunset sails and evening excursions. Available for charter is a 30 ft. Watkins sailboat.

"If you've ever sailed the calm waters of Tampa Bay, you know the peacefulness of harnessing the wind as you view the serene vistas, full of mangrove forests and wildlife," Captain Mark said.

With a maximum of six passengers per charter, every trip is an intimate setting, ideal for any special occasion, such as anniversaries, birthdays, proposals, informal sales meetings, wine tastings, even weddings! Day charters can be reserved for adventurous family outings, with many options available, like fishing, kayak excursions, eco tours and wildlife viewing.

For a romantic night out, try an evening cruise and have the dramatic sunset and night sky all to yourselves. Meals and beverages can be provided by local restaurants and vendors, with special menus designed for the charters. Customized full day or overnight charters can be planned for your ultimate experience on the water. Want to have fun and learn something new? Captain Mark offers a "Learn to Sail" one-day sailing class.

"Whatever venture you desire, you're sure to make memories that will last a lifetime," Captain Mark said.

USCG Captain Mark Smith and crew invite you to experience Safety Harbor's newest attraction. Special discounts on gift certificates currently are available for the holidays. Visit online at SafetyHarborCharters.com, or call 727-743-9719 to reserve your adventure.
