Mark Taylor
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
My name is Mark W. Taylor and I am a candidate for Safety Harbor City Commission Seat 3; I would like to tell you who I am and why I’m running to be your voice on the commission in the upcoming January election.
I have lived in Safety Harbor for 61⁄2 years, moving here in August 2001 from East Lake Woodlands. I have been a Floridian and Pinellas county resident for 17 years after receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky. I have two sons, Austin and Blake ages 8 and 6. We live here; we play here. I am currently employed by Medco Health having been with them since 1994 after previous employment with Target and Walgreens.
My other activities include Board of Directors memberships with the Safety Harbor Little League, Countryside Jr. Cougars and USTA Florida. I am also an active member of the Pinellas County Pharmacy Association.
Our city is at a crossroads in a time where a true vision and focus is needed as we approach a new decade in which our city turns 100 years of age. The commission has had recent turnover with resignations and has had interim and commissioners sit without having to win an election. This is a time for me to step up and be a voice of integrity and reason and with your support and vote; together we can get it done. I will bring personal and fiscal responsibility to our city government that all citizens can take pride in.
I envision our community that is family orientated; walkable and economically vibrant. Steps have been made in the right direction and we need to move forward and implement ideas that will continue that path. Our downtown district should be filled with businesses that help sustain small town charm; a business community that thrives and becomes a destination. I also foresee an expansion of our public parks and recreation services; one of the best in the county.
I look forward to representing you as your next city commissioner. Feel free to contact me at 727-724-3361 or E-mail me at
