Opinion
In response to your article on Safety Harbor Commission seat candidates, I respectfully submit the following observations.
Seat 3: Regarding your statements on Mark Taylor's raised contribution funds, you neglected to mention that of $4652 raised, $3000 is his own money. Secondly, individual contributions beyond the $75 Mr. Taylor mentioned in an interview “several weeks ago”, were made after this. Your article implied that Mr. Taylor lied about the sum of outside contributers, which is not true. When he made the statement it was accurate.
Seat 4: I am pleased that you correctly noted that my contributions are small amounts from private citizens. However, you did not give the same scrutiny to my opponent's contributors. Beside her own money, Ms. Bandoni's has 22 contributions totaling $3150. Only 2% is contributed by a sole Safety Harbor resident; 98% comes from non-residents. Furthermore, at least $2200 or 70% of these non-resident dollars are from developers, realtors, and real estate attorneys.
I know that the Times wishes to be as impartial as possible. I am sure these are oversights, rather than selective reporting. I therefore request you provide this information to voters, prior to Tuesday's election.
