The City of Clearwater has hired Courtney Orr to be the new Downtown Manager. Orr comes to Clearwater with almost 10 years of government affairs, public relations, budget management, and events experience. In her new position, Orr will develop and coordinate the marketing, communications, retail recruitment and special events planning for the Cleveland Street District.
Orr most recently has been a manager for the Pinellas County Connection Center. Prior to the County position, she was the Vice President for Government Affairs for the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“We feel Courtney’s experience and knowledge with the Cleveland Street revitalization activities, knowledge of the Clearwater business community, and experience and skills in marketing and public information will be very helpful in the Downtown Manager position,” Assistant City Manager Rod Irwin said. “The Cleveland Street District and Downtown are entering a new exciting time and we think Courtney is the perfect person to lead us into this new era.”
Orr has a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Jones International University. She also is a graduate of Leadership Pinellas and has been involved in the Tampa Bay Regional Coalition, Clearwater Main Street Program, Mayor’s Business Beautification Recognition Committee, Courtney Campbell Scenic Highway Committee and the Clearwater Resident Engagement Project.
In addition to developing and coordinating the marketing, communications, retail recruitment and special events planning for the Cleveland Street District, Orr will also administer the Downtown Facade Improvement Grant, administer the Community Redevelopment Agency Retail Assistance Program and provide support to the Downtown Development Board and the Main Street Program. Orr will start her role as downtown manager on Feb. 19 and will report to Irwin.
