Pollo Tropical will open its fourth Bay area restaurant in Oldsmar in March.

Pollo Tropical (pronounced Po-Yo Tropical) — famous throughout South and Central Florida for its signature citrus marinated, flame-grilled chicken — is bringing its secret recipes and fresh ingredients to Oldsmar by opening its fourth restaurant in the greater Tampa Bay area.
Pollo Tropical will open on Tampa Road (3134 Tampa Road by the AMC 20) in early March with grand opening festivities scheduled for Fri. and Sat., Mar. 7-8. Officials from the city of Oldsmar and Pinellas County will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The family-friendly bash will also include tropical games, interaction with Pollo Tropical mascots, games and prizes. All the festivities are free and open to the public.
Pollo Tropical also offers a number of savory Caribbean and Latin-inspired side dishes to complement its flavorful chicken. All are made-from-scratch and include black beans, rice, corn, yuca (pronounced You-Ca), plantains and soup. The chicken is marinated in a secret blend of tropical fruit juices for 24 hours before it is grilled to perfection over an open flame.
The entire menu, including baked goods and fried products, is trans-fat free. Pollo Tropical claims to be the first quick-service restaurant with a full menu to go entirely trans-fat free, using canola cooking oils as replacements. The company’s signature chicken products have always been trans-fat and hormone free.
The first Pollo Tropical opened in Miami in 1988 and the company began to spread throughout Florida, opening more than 80 stores. Its first corporate-owned store outside of Florida opened in New Jersey in 2006. It also has franchise stores in Puerto Rico and Ecuador.
