| Oldsmar Mayor Jim Ronecker, center, made the first snip of the ribbon marking the opening of the library at the corner of St. Petersburg Drive East and Dartmouth Avenue. He was joined by current and former city council members, including Vice Mayor Suzanne Vale, Greg Rublee, Janice Miller and Eric Seidel along with former Mayor Jerry Beverland. Ronecker noted that former council member Donald Bohr, who died Dec. 24, 2006, was there in spirit. Beverland recounted the beginning of the library in 1919 by the Oldsmar Women’s Club. |
 |
Historic photos of Oldsmar were used throughout the library and a
picture of the former library in a historic bank building across State
Street from city hall, was memorialized in frosting on a cake
celebrating the grand opening.
Below, the library has been in active use since it opened in its new location early in January.

| Safety Harbor’s library director Lana Bullion, above, was one of the visitors, admiring her neighboring city’s new library. In about a year, Bullion will have the opportunity to celebrate an expanded and remodeled Safety Harbor Library. |
