The Thomas McPherson Salon is hosting a free “ask the expert” event on Monday, March 10, at the Hilton Garden located at 4052 Tampa Road in Oldsmar. It is the first in a series of such events. The next will be held Monday, April 21 at 801 Main in downtown Safety Harbor.
Mags Kavanaugh, International Haircolor Platform Artist; Jimmy Thomas, Correctional Hair Color Expert with more than 25 years experience; and Stuart McPherson, Hair Extension Expert will be answer questions regarding haircolor and hair extensions. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and is free, but due to limited seating reservations are required. There will be a free makeover given away that evening to one lucky woman.
Kavanaugh brings more than 30 years of expertise in all aspects of the industry. She got started in the theatre at a young age, which blossomed into a career doing acting, stunt doubling, hair and make-up for film and TV. That developed into working with the Oscars and Emmys in Hollywood, all the while working in Beverly Hills with her star clientele. She is the International Brand Ambassador for Compagnia Del Colore, traveling the world educating salon owners and stylists about CDC. She was a National Educator, Master Artistic Educator, member of the Viva Design Team and one of the few “Ask the Experts” for the Matrix website and has worked with Logics since 1986.
Jimmy Thomas and Stuart McPherson began their Safety Harbor business in 1999. Their goal was to establish a successful salon and to contribute to the community that has supported their business. Both have had long, successful careers in their field. Thomas continues to reflect his position as top in his class in haircutting and haircolor expertise since training with the Sassoon Academy, the Matrix Academy and most recently by Framesi of Milan, Italy. He has received numerous awards for proficiency in his craft. This year is no exception with Tampa Bay Magazine recently bestowing both Thomas and McPherson the honor of “The Best Haircutter” in the Tampa Bay area.
In 2005 and 2006, McPherson was voted “The Best Hair Extension Specialist” in the Tampa Bay area. His talent in this fine art was derived from his hair extensions training at Great Lengths, Inc. in California. In addition, he has trained at the Matrix Academy of New York City and Framesi in Milan, Italy. He continues winning praise for his specialty in curly hair cutting, as well as color correction.
