Amaryllis Appleblossom is a top selling bulb and for good reason. It produces enormous and showy blossoms, four or occasionally even five per stem, each of which typically is 6-8" across, dwarfing its springtime namesake. Its scientific name is Hippeastrum and it also is known as a Dutch amaryllis. The flower is white with a feathering of pink. In Florida, the bulb grows quickly in late winter or early spring, producing a lily-like display of multiple flowers on a single stalk. After flowering, tuck it away in the garden. It will be back next year.
