Theodore Alan Freed, 51, Safety Harbor,
died March 4, 2008 at Hospice House Woodside of lymphoma. Born
September 9, 1956 in Baltimore, MD, he was a musician, promoter,
local music supporter and real estate entrepreneur. Survivors
incude his wife, Laura; two sons, Jared and Alexander; and a
sister, Cheryl Friedman.
Lawrence “Larry” H. Weller
Jr., 57, Safety Harbor, died March 4, 2008 at home. He was born in
Dayton, OH and moved to Florida in 1986. He was a graduate of Ohio
State University with a bachelor's in business administration. He
was employed in banking as a VP of Commercial Real Estate. He was a
member of the Tampa Bay Builders Association, Aladdin Shrine Temple
and Masonic Lodge of Dayton. He was a member of Heritage United
Methodist Church and a past youth counselor, past Cubmaster and
Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 413, Asst. for 135, Order of the Arrow
Lodge 340, and past district commissioner. He coached soccer and
baseball, was a Little League Board member and District 12 umpire.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and two sons, Brad and Mathew
Stephen.
Thomas Jensen, 82, Safety Harbor, died
March 8, 2008. He was a construction engineer.
Allan Ronald "Ron" Wilton, 65, Safety
Harbor, died March 10, 2008. Born in Chicago, IL, he moved to
Safety Harbor in 1973 as an R&D engineer with the A.C. Nielsen
Company. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol, Safety
Harbor; his son, Scott; and daughters, Cynthia Shaver, Janine Pabst
and Sharon Britten; grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Pabst; and
sister, Lynn Wells, all of Clearwater.
Michael F. DeVito died March 11, 2008
after a long illness. He grew up in Manhattan and lived in New
Jersey and Pennsylvania before retiring to Florida. He received his
BS and MS degrees in engineering from the City College of New York
and his master's of science from Newark College of Engineering. He
worked for RCA Corp. for 38 years as an Engineering Leader and
Project Engineer, receiving special recognition for his work on the
Apollo 11 space program. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister
at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in
the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army as a Signal Officer and as Chief
of the Technical Intelligence Office at the Yokahama, Japan Signal
Office. He was a member of IEEE, the Association of Old Crows,
Senior Member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences, American
Management Association and the Engineering honor societies of Tau
Beta Pi and Ita Kappa Nu. He began fencing at Stuyvesant H.S. in NY
where he was City Champion. He continued fencing in college and
after retirement receiving several medals at tournaments. He is
survived by his wife of 52 years, Angela G; three sons, David F.,
of Eagle River, AK, Michael J., of Safety Harbor and Mark C., of
Fredericksburg, VA; and seven grandchildren.
Jane L. (Blackford) Bush, of Dunedin,
formerly of Safety Harbor, died March 13, 2008. Born in Johnstown,
PA, she moved to Wickliffe, OH at age 14. She relocated to Florida
in 1977, from Northfield, OH. She was a member of New Purpose
Community Church in Palm Harbor. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 50 years, Charles, and son, William. She and Charles
were active members of Briar Creek MHP Social Club for 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Zingale, of Dunedin; two
grandchildren, Michael Zingale of Dunedin and Michelle Zingale of
Palm Harbor; and several nieces and nephews.
William M. Herbert Jr., 64, Safety Harbor,
died March 14, 2008 at Hospice House Woodside. He is survived by
his wife, Linda; sister, Mary Childress, Chesapeake, VA; two
daughters, Celeste Auvil, Ft. Lauderdale, Yvette Cahill,
Fredericksburg, VA; and grandson, Robert Stephen Cahill, also of
Fredericksburg.
Diane Duecker, 57, Safety Harbor, died
March 19, 2008 at Mease Countryside Hospital. Born in Cincinnati,
she moved to Pinellas County in 1983. Survivors include her
husband, Edward Koon; daughters, Angela Cash, Palm Harbor, Erin
Marie Walton, Dunedin; and five grandchildren.
Barbara Gene Shirk, 60, Safety Harbor,
died March 19, 2008 at home under the care of Hospice of the
Florida Suncoast. Born in Camden, NJ, she moved to the area in 1999
from Lancaster, PA. She loved being surrounded by her family, the
ocean, and enjoyed gardening. She attended Grace Christian
Fellowship. She is survived by her husband Vincent Shirk; two sons,
Mark Montgomery, Burlington, NJ, and Michael Montgomery, Temecula,
CA; two brothers, Rik Geis, Marlton, NJ, and David Geis of
Maryland; two sisters, Karen Wolf Lake Forrest, IL and Susan Powers
Phoenixville, PA; and, three grandchildren, Dylan, Alexa, and
Collin.
Henry L. Foy, 65, Safety Harbor died March
22, 2008. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and came here in 1993 from
Toms River, NJ. He was Catholic. He was a truck driver for the
Teamsters and drove for Coca Cola. He is survived by Patricia, his
wife of 43 years; sons, Daniel Foy and Sean Foy; daughter, Denise
Foy; sisters, Mary David, and Patricia Fisher; and grandchildren,
Daniel, Megan, Melissa, and Kaylee.
Sandra Peacoe Griswold, 51, Safety Harbor,
died March 28, 2008. She was born November 26, 1956 in Washington,
DC to Dawn and Okey Peacoe, Sr. At six weeks of age she came to
Pinellas County where she attended Madeira Beach Elementary and
Junior High School before graduating from Seminole High School. She
was a Job's Daughter. She is survived by her husband Michael; four
sons Noah, Michael, Devon and Zane; her mother Dawn Rasimowicz;
brothers Okey and Donald Peacoe, sister Susan Lacker; grandchildren
Jasmine and Seth Wofford; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
