Dear Nanny Fran,

What do you mean "Not enough bathrooms?"

Earth angels have enough love for all kitties.

Animal lovers I know and have known do not have enough bathrooms. Those who ask this question have one kitty or one puppy. They have no concept of the love "Earth Angels" have for kitties encompassing ALL kitties or love for puppies encompassing ALL puppies, all breeds, all mixed breeds, all ages, all sizes and all medical or psychological conditions.

I am so honored to know these people. Their hearts are larger than this nation! However, let us get back to the original question. Earth angels such as these have numerous puppies and kitties that they are fostering or have rescued from the streets, apartment house dumpster or retail business dumpster or have simply found "dumped" on a street or in a county park.

Earth angels rescue these frightened, abandoned and many times wild dear ones and take them home. Of course, knowing nothing about them from a medical standpoint, these dear ones are sequestered in their own room until they can be taken to a veterinarian. Earth angels do not put the health of their "already rescued children" at risk unnecessarily. Hence, the need for multiple bathrooms!

Ever showered in your bathroom and stepped out of the shower while trying to avoid stepping on two-week-old feral (wild) kittens? It is very interesting. The dear mother was only six months of age. No matter how properly you plan your moves, it is nearly impossible to NOT have at least one squeaky clean yet damp foot unavoidably land in the litter box! All the while there is a wee one in the box, about the size of a small banana, screaming at you. He realizes that you do NOT resemble his mother in the least!

The entire world is overrun with kittens and puppies because people do not spay and neuter. Also, many times when people move they abandon animals because, after all, this is a DISPOSABLE society..right? Also, eviction or foreclosure actually puts families in untenable situations. Shelters are overwhelmed with previously adored sweethearts. So, dump, dump, dump.

We are so blessed to have these earth angels all around us. Most of you will never meet them... knowingly at least. You see, they have learned to not trust humans, they only trust the animals and other earth angels. Pity you say? Why SHOULD they trust you? You only have one cat or one dog and if you knew about them and their M.A.S.H. unit you might, quite pompously, report the "hoarder." You would do this and feel very good about it and the neighbors would pat you on the back and congratulate you. How incredibly pitiful. You, who only have room in your heart and home for ONE dear baby will castigate, mock and ridicule our earth angels.

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the hourly bottle feedings these five two-week-old kittens will require for the next few weeks. Don't worry, earth angels are there feeding hourly while you and I get a "much needed" night's rest.
