Weight Watchers has opened another local meeting focused on creating healthy habits for a healthier lifestyle. Starting with small, attainable goals, participants can lose just 10 percent of body weight and make a real difference not only in how they look but also how they feel, according to Weight Watchers. Weight loss also can lower cholesterol and reduce blood pressure.
Safety Harbor resident Kelley Brickfield will be leading the new meeting at Gold’s Gym, 1580 McMullen Booth Rd., Clearwater. The meeting is held every Monday at 12:30 p.m.
Brickfield, like all Weight Watchers leaders, lost weight following the Weight Watchers program. She has been a Lifetime Member, maintaining her 52-pound weight loss since 2000. Brickfield now leads 13 meetings a week in the Clearwater area. Her weight loss allows her to understand the challenges and celebrations members are experiencing.
“I like to remind my members that it’s progress, not perfection,” said Brickfield. “There are 21 meals in a week, so if one or two meals don’t go as planned, there are still 19 other that can be recouped.”
Weight Watchers is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change that offers tools, group support, food and activity plans that are livable and effective. At Weight Watchers meetings, people come together with a common goal — to learn how to successfully lose weight. Meetings are an important part of how Weight Watchers helps members reach their goals; in fact, people who attend meetings lose three times more weight than those who try to lose weight on their own, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association.
