The Gulf Coast Museum of Art (GCMA) held an opening reception and awards ceremony for the Pinellas County High School Survey on May 18 in the Student Exhibitions Gallery. Children from Pinellas County’s public and private high schools whose artwork was selected by an independent juror each received a certificate of achievement for participation in the show.
Three students received an award of excellence for outstanding work, along with a U.S. Savings Bond, and their teachers received a gift from the Museum to recognize their efforts as art educators. Award winners were Sarah Klim of Gibbs High School, art teacher Melissa Hunt; Jeffrey Sincich of Largo High School, art teacher Lisa Bagley; and April Seelbach of Seminole High School and art teacher, Susan Harbison.
The Student Exhibition Gallery at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art features two elementary, one middle, and one high school exhibition annually as part of its educational program which provides a creative opportunity for young artists, recognizes talented students and promotes community awareness and support for art education.
