The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art has announced the winners in “An Artistic Discovery: The 27th Annual Congressional High School Art Competition.” First launched in 1982, the annual Congressional High School Art Competition is coordinated by members of the U.S. Congress, and by Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis locally. This year’s competition was judged by artist Brooke Alison and the cash awards were provided by the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art.
The exhibition includes artwork of students in grades 9-12 from the 9th Congressional District. The Best of Show artwork will travel to Washington, D.C. to be displayed with other congressional district winners for one year in the Cannon Tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol.
Following are the 2008 award winners including the artwork title, the school the artist attends and the school art teacher.
Best of Show — $250 and ribbon:
