Pinellas County's only snow ski club will
hold its annual kickoff meeting at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at the
Bilmar Beach Resort, 10650 Gulf Blvd, Treasure Island. Six winter
ski trips will be showcased for the Clearwater/St. Petersburg Ski
and Sports Club's upcoming ski season. The evening also will begin
a fundraising effort for the Bay Pines Disabled Veteran Winter
Sports Team.
With trips planned to Snowmass, CO;
Copper, CO; Winter Park, CO; Park City, UT; Whistler, BC; and,
Cortina, Italy, there will be trips for all levels of skiers and at
various price levels.
This season marks the 25th anniversary of
the not-for-profit Clearwater/St. Pete Ski and Sports Club and club
members will be sharing pictures and newsletters from the previous
25 years.
The event also is the first of several
fundraisers planned for the Bay Pines team of Disabled Veterans so
they can attend the Winter Sports Clinic for America's Disabled
Veterans in Snowmass, CO in March 2009. This unique rehab clinic is
held every year, but due to the cost of travel only a handful of
Bay Pines veterans are able to attend.
The club will be hosting a silent auction
to start off its fundraising efforts. Donations will be accepted to
add to the auction for this effort to help support disabled
veterans.

and the Winter Sports Clinic can be found at www.snowshark.org
