Sue Ann Loick, 53, died July 2, 2008 after
an extended illness. She was the daughter of Walter Loick and the
late Jean Ault. She was a graduate of St. Petersburg's Northeast
High School, Class of 1972, and attended Lees McCrae College in
Western North Carolina. She had a career at Jim Walter Research
Corporation before retiring in 2000. She is survived by her parents
Walter and Rena Loick of Palm Harbor and Sapphire, NC; a
step-sister Terri Kenefsky of Cashiers, NC and step-brother Harvey
Gortner of Clearwater.
Ron Yeager, 61, Oldsmar, died July 5 at
home. He was owner of Safety Harbor Tire, formerly headed the
service department of a local automobile dealership and was a
member of VFW Post 10093 and American Legion Post 238, both of
Safety Harbor.
Kathleen Mary Spoto, 43, Clearwater, died
July 7, 2008. She was born in New London, CT but spent most of her
life in Clearwater. She graduated with honors from St.
Brendan’s Catholic School in Miami. For years she was active
in Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor and in the first
few years of Espiritu Santo Catholic School, she was very involved
in fund raising and her children’s elementary school years.
She was completing her degree as an RN but was unable to continue
due to illness. When her twins were born, she was active with the
Multiples Club. She also spent time counseling patients with
Chron’s Disease. She will be sorely missed by her friends and
family. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Todd Anthony
Spoto; twin daughters, Haley Victoria and Emily Grace Spoto; her
father and mother, George and Mary Cull of Clearwater; her brother
John Cull and his wife Melinda of Dunwoody, GA; her sister Theresa
Ann Cull and her children, Morgan, Devon, and Jordan; her sister,
Mary Frances Colianni, her husband Greg and their Children, Luke
and Gabriel of Missouri City, TX; and several aunts, uncles and
cousins. She is also survived by her in-laws, Vic and Mary Lou
Spoto of Safety Harbor and their family, Mark and Andrea Spoto and
their children, Kati and Samantha of Safety Harbor; Michael and
Debbie Spoto and their daughter, Mikeena of Tampa.
Alvin "Mike" Jewell, 64, Safety Harbor,
died July 14, 2008 at Mease Countryside Hospital. A native of
Perdido Beach, AL, he lived in this area for the past 20 years,
coming from Nashville, TN. He was a salesman for Dimmitt Chevrolet
and a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks. He is
survived by his wife of 30 years, Diane; sons, Todd Jewell, Dallas,
TX, David Burt, Safety Harbor, Duncan Burt, Brandon; daughters,
Jill Fiala, Montgomery, AL, Wendy Jewell, Murfreesboro, TN,
Jennifer Richard, Greenville, SC; parents, Alvin Jewell, Hudson,
Betty Hirz, Fairhope, AL; brother, Fred Hirz, Pasadena, CA; sister,
Kathy Moore, Fairhope; 13 grandchildren; and, four
great-grandchildren.
Sharon Raley Denton, 45, Safety Harbor and
New Port Richey, died July 17, 2008. She was born in Clearwater.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas; son, Shane Raley and
fiancee, Brittney Peterson; daughter, Kendra Denton; mother, Karen
Raley; father, Melvin Raley and wife, Lisa; brother, Kevin Raley
and wife, Leslie; granddaughter, Tiffany Morgan Raley; grandmother,
Adeline Stone; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Dharamdas Jeswani, 98, Safety Harbor, died
July 17, 2008 at Bayou Gardens. He was born in India and is
survived by daughter Asha Raghani and family.
Michael Barnesky, 93. formerly of Safety
Harbor, died July 21, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen;
son, Robert; extended family in Michigan; 12 grandchildren; and,
nine great-grandchildren.
Albert J. Medves, 77, Safety Harbor, died
July 22, 2008. He is survived by his wife, three sons, 10
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Laurence Dean Danhour, 54, Safety Harbor,
died July 25, 2008 at home in the presence of his loving family and
two best friends, Mark Cline and Nap Wolfe. He was born June 28,
1954 in Illinois and later moved to Florida. He enjoyed fishing and
spending time in the outdoors with his sons. His recent passion had
been riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife. A skilled
craftsmen, he founded a successful handyman service and was known
as the "Honest Father of Four." He later was a sales representative
of the Frontier Lighting Company. He is survived by his wife of 23
years, Shari; his sons, Michael, Ryan, Daniel, Nick; his mother and
father, Dean and Joan; his brothers, Gary (Peg) and Randy (Nicole);
and sister, Sue; his in-laws, Phyllis and Marvin; and his
sisters-in-law, Diane (Lane) and Brenda.
Lorraine "Lori Mann" Pinard, 79, Safety
Harbor, died July 25, 2008. Born June 12, 1930 in Brighton, MA; she
moved to Florida with her mother in 1944. In Miami she married,
raised a family of six children, and started a career in
advertising sales at the Miami News and later the Miami Review (now
the Daily Business Review). Over the years, her drive to achieve
along with her boundless energy allowed her to start three
restaurants and a bakery. She became well known for her cooking and
baking and frequently used her dessert breads as a calling card,
leaving them as gifts for business acquaintances as well as
friends. In 1976 she began a musical career as a Jazz and Big Band
singer, which took her from Miami to Orlando and finally to
Pinellas County in the mid '80s. Over the last 25 years she
entertained many performing in costumes complete with boas, hats
and cigarette holders. Her favorite musicians included Tony
Bennett, Vic Damone, Frank Sinatra, Ellas Fitzgerald and Sarah
Vaughn. Her love of cooking and singing was surpassed only by her
love of family. Her happiest moments were those spent with her
family and close friends. She battled cancer for the past three
years, meeting this challenge like every other in her life -- with
determination and a positive attitude. Despite her illness, she had
performed as recently as April and was honored last year to sing
the National Anthem at Brighthouse Stadium as part of a Pink Ribbon
anti-cancer rally. She is survived by her husband of 20 years,
Mike; her children Debra, John, Mark, Scott (wife, Mary), Matthew
and Lisa Johni (husband, Scott); Mike's daughters Becky and Marcy;
eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Alfred F. Tuting, 52, Safety Harbor, died
July 27. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen; son
Al-Nath; daughters Nashira and Karina; grandchild Zawiyah; and,
three sisters.
