James Chapman, 73, Safety Harbor, died
August 20, 2008 at Mease Countryside Hospital. There are no known
survivors.
Joseph "Joboo" Panebianco, 46, Safety
Harbor, died August 22, 2008 at home surrounded by friends and
family. Born October 14, 1961 in Greensburg, PA, he was an avid
sports fan who loved his hometown Pittsburgh teams, the Steelers,
Penguins and Pirates. He recently was able to fulfill a lifelong
dream, to attend a home game and watch his beloved Pittsburgh
Penguins play in the Stanley Cup finals. He graduated from St.
Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, where he played college baseball.
He moved to Florida in 1991 where he was able to play baseball on a
year round basis with the St. Petersburg Hurricanes. After retiring
from baseball, he discovered an exceptional talent for bowling. In
a short time, he joined the Professional Bowlers Association and
was competing in various tournaments. After several PBA tournaments
he found he better enjoyed bowling with friends and family. He had
the unique ability to teach children discipline and respect through
the use of tough love. In 1997, he decided that he would put to use
his ability to teach by joining the Pinellas County School system,
where he began a teaching career with special needs children. He
had been on staff at Hamilton Disston School since 2001. Aside from
sports and politics, Joe loved his German shepherd dogs, especially
his dog Fluke. His dogs were like his children. Joe still mourned
the loss of Fluke from cancer in 2007. He is survived by his wife
of 13 years, Janet, and his three four-legged children, Polly,
Buster and Brisco. He was preceded in death in 2007 by his brother
Sam and is survived by brothers Frank, Jim and Nick and his sister,
Nita. He also is survived by surrogate families, which include his
baseball family, bowling family and school family.
Archie A. Riccio, 89, Safety Harbor, died
August 24, 2008. He was in the Merchant Marines from 1948 to 1962.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Esther.
Survivors include a son, Paul Riccio, and daughter-in-law, Barbara;
a brother, William Riccio, and sister-in-law, Mary; a sister,
Theresa Boniface; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
and, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary H. Morris, 65, Safety Harbor, died
August 25, 2008. Born October 1, 1942 in Mobile, AL, she moved here
from St. Louis in 1996 with her late husband "Pat." She was a
school teacher in St. Louis, specializing in special needs
students. She was a member of the Literacy Council and volunteered
for the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. She had a love for
animals. She is survived by her children, Teresa Morris, Liz Morris
and Patricia Jenine Hitt, all of Florida; and Michael P Morris of
St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Amber, Nathan, Claudia, Sean and
Conner; and brothers Raymond and David.
Bernita "BeBe" Viola Parker Johnson, 96,
Safety Harbor, died August 26, 2008. She was born June 21, 1912 in
Belmore, OH to Elmer Leroy Parker and Viola Ann Wallen Parker. She
and Richard Kitson Johnson married on Dec. 31, 1933. He died Dec.
20, 1983. She was a member of Eastern Star and GFWC North Pinellas
Woman's Club. As a member of Ellenton United Methodist Church, she
served as past president of the United Methodist Women and chair of
the Manatee County Fair church food booth. She founded two Business
and Professional Women's Clubs in Ohio. Those clubs were
instrumental in getting the town garbage service started in
Leipsic, OH. She was a professional seamstress who could create
anything. She and her husband owned the Clover Farms Grocery Store
and the Town and Country Dress Shop in Leipsic. She later managed
Paul's Department Store in Ottawa, OH and after the family moved
to Florida in 1967, managed the Marcia Dee Shop in Bradenton. She
was preceded in death by her twin brother, Bernis L. Parker, and
brothers Clifford C. Parker, Herman H. Parker, Robert D. Parker and
Herbert E. Parker; her sister, Pearl Veitch, and son-in-law, John
Stephen Hussar. She is survived by her sister, Janis B. Ealing of
Ft. Wayne, IN; a daughter, Jane Johnson Hussar of Safety Harbor;
two grandsons, Jonathan Berne Hussar of Oldsmar and Joseph Richard
Hussar of Safety Harbor; and nieces & nephews.
Jack V. Holland, Jr., AMCS, USN (Ret.),
65, Safety Harbor, died in Clearwater on August 28, 2008. Born May
1, 1943 in Dayton, OH, he entered the Navy in January 1961. He
served at duty stations in California, Florida, Guam, Mississippi,
Spain and Texas. He deployed on several aircraft carriers in the
Mediterranean. He retired to Safety Harbor after serving 25 years.
He was a life member of VFW Post 10093 and a life member of
American Legion Post 238, both in Safety Harbor. He was fanatic
about football. Jack loved a good cold Budweiser draft. In years
past, he was an avid golfer and as a teenager, he caddied in a PGA
Tour Event in Dayton. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack,
sister Vivian and brother Gary. He is survived by his mother
Evelyn; wife of 43 years, Mabel; nephew Clayton; niece, Samantha
and sister-in-law Holly.
