Haddock Serves 20 Years As Oldsmar City Manager E-mail
Saturday, 01 July 2006

At the May 16 Oldsmar City Council meeting, Oldsmar City Manager Bruce T. Haddock (l), received accolades from Mayor Jerry Beverland in recognition of Haddock’s 20-year tenure with the City of Oldsmar. Beverland credited Haddock with being the “oldest City Manager in Pinellas County.” Haddock good-naturedly clarified the mayor’s statement, adding, “not the oldest, but maybe I’ve been City Manager for a greater length of time than most others.”

Twenty years ago Haddock stepped into his position in a city with dirt streets, no recreation programs, two parks employees and EMS provided by Safety Harbor Fire Department. Oldsmar was then under consent order from DEP, limiting sewer connections. And, City Hall was located in the Oldsmar Bank building (c. 1918) which was in such poor condition that the second floor could not be occupied. Haddock said, “You’ll never hear me say those were the good old days!” Oldsmar residents say you can’t recognize today’s Oldsmar from 20 years ago.HaddockRecog.jul06
