Well, when you are a pet sitter you work.  You work from early morning till late at night on Christmas evening, Christmas Day and every day surrounding Christmas and New Years Day as well.  Christmas is just like any other day of the year.  Just as the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, etc.  All holidays are NOT special to a pet sitter with the exception of the fact that we are super careful to stay healthy so that we can be there for you and your fur children.  We know how important it is to have peace of mind regarding your home and fur children while you are away visiting your human family members.

Christmas is a bit different from other holidays because of all the beautiful decorations.    I have never had a Christmas decorations in my home.  There is no need.  I am not in my home to enjoy them.  However, I am incredibly appreciative of all of the beautiful fur children and beautifully decorated homes I am requested to visit over the holidays.

There is one aspect that differentiates Christmas from our other holidays.  Since it is a time of good will towards men, lots of gifts, hugs and warm smiles, at times the wonderfulness is crushing if you have lost a loved one at this time.  Many of us have and it is a struggle to join in the festivities that beckon during this time.  A dear friend of mine flies to Las Vegas for several weeks.  Her son left her at this time, 14 years ago, after a long battle with cancer.  She prefers to totally leave the area so the memories are not so painful.

I lost one of my sweethearts on my birthday several years ago and it was difficult for many years to enjoy the event at all.  This year I am steeling myself to get through the holidays as I lost the love of my life on January 2nd of this year.  I honestly do not know how I have managed to hold myself together emotionally throughout this year.  I know that there are many of us coping with the same issues.

Be assured that I feel blessed to be able to come to your home and receive the unconditional love your children give every day of the year.   I am also immensely grateful that each one is still with you.  This is my 15th year of caring for your children and I can name nearly 30 dear ones who are now angels.  I thank all the angels in heaven and the ones currently still with you for being the most rewarding part of my life.  Thank you.  Thank you all.

Nanny Fran
