The St. Petersburg Museum of History
hosts a
Writer's
Roundtable on Florida trails and waterways
this Saturday from 2 to 4, joining in
the observance of February as Florida Trails Month.
Four of Florida's most popular writers—Johnny Molloy,
Gary Mormino, Tim Ohr and Terry Tomalin—will answer questions and share their
views on the ecological, recreational and historical importance of the state's
vast system of swamps, rivers, wetlands and trails.
February marks the 40th Anniversary the
National Trails System Act, signed into law to help promote and preserve the
nation's outdoor and historic resources for public enjoyment. Today, the system
encompasses nearly 40,000 miles of trails nationwide, including the Florida
National Scenic Trail that stretches from the Panhandle to the Keys.
The event is free to museum members and students with
a valid ID. A $5 donation is suggested for other attendees.
