Thierry Fischer, conductor; Pekka Kuusisto, violin; RAVEL: Mother Goose; DUTILLEUX: Tree of Dreams; FRANCK: Symphony in D minor; Principal conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Thierry Fischer conducts the orchestra in the TFO premiere of Henri Dutilleux's "Tree of Dreams" with Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto in his TFO debut. The program also includes Maurice Ravel's "Mother Goose" and Cesar Franck's "Symphony in D minor."

She was awarded France's highest honor in the arts when she was appointed as an officer of L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and in 1983 she was honored with an award given at The White House by President Reagan in recognition of her significant contribution to the arts. At the peak of an extraordinary career, Samuel Ramey reigns as the foremost interpreter of the bass operatic and concert repertoire. With astounding versatility, he commands an impressive breadth of repertoire encompassing virtually every musical style. His versatility _ combined with his exceptional musicianship, elegant stage presence and uncommon theatrical abilities _ enable him to pursue portrayals of tremendous range. This is a concert not to be missed.
Frederica von Stade Master Class, Mon., March 23, Jaeb Theater, 7:30 p.m.: FREE. Opera Tampa and the Patel Conservatory have planned an observational master class with the Opera Tampa apprentices led by Frederica von Stade. This educational event is for everyone, novice and expert alike, and offers opera excerpts with live performers, interesting information about the art form and a question and answer session.
