Free Pops in the Park Mother's Day Concert at Safety Harbor Resort & Spa |

St. Petersburg, FL - The Florida Orchestra will perform three free Pops in
the Park Concerts in the Tampa Bay area during April and May. Two of the
concerts are in Tampa: Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Compton Park at 16101
Compton Drive in Tampa Palms, hosted by the Tampa Palms Owners Association; and
Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. at Lowry Park in Tampa. At both of the concerts in
Tampa, attendees are invited to make canned food donations to Tampa Bay
Harvest’s food bank services.
The third concert, titled “Safety Harbor Resort and Spa and LifeLink
Foundation present The Florida Orchestra in A Symphony of Life,” is on Mother’s
Day, Sunday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Safety Harbor Resort and
Spa at 105 N. Bayshore Drive in Safety Harbor.
For all three of these concerts, guest conductor Stuart Chafetz leads The
Florida Orchestra in a varied program of symphonic and pop favorites, including
Dvorak’s Carnival Overture, Strauss’ Voices of Spring, the
Bacchanale from Saint-Saen’s Samson and Dalila, Tchaikovsky’s
Capriccio Italien, John Williams’ Liberty Fanfare, Kenneth
Alford’s Colonel Bogey March, selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
My Fair Lady and Tchaikovksy’s 1812 Overture.
Stuart Chafetz is the resident conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra,
the music director and conductor of the Maui Pops Orchestra in Hawaii, the
former associate conductor of the Louisville Orchestra and the past assistant
conductor of the Honolulu Symphony. His guest conducting appearances have
included a great variety of orchestras, including the Austin Symphony, Buffalo
Philharmonic, Chautauqua Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Louisville Orchestra,
Mississippi Symphony, Modesto Symphony and Virginia Symphony, among others.
