The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast Shortens Name |

Saturday, 08 August 2009 |
The Hospice of the Florida Suncoastl shortened its name to Suncoast Hospice.
A fresh, new logo will also debut that day. Most people already call the organization Suncoast Hospice,
so this change is comfortable and ends possible name confusion. Although Suncoast Hospice will be
widely used, The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast name has not been retired and still belongs to the nonprofit.
Suncoast Hospice has been Pinellas County’s not-for-profit, comprehensive, community hospice for
more than 30 years, founded in 1977. Nothing will change in that regard and the same leadership remains in
place, led by longtime president and executive director, Mary J. Labyak. One of our nation’s leading hospices,
Suncoast Hospice serves more than 2,200 patients and families every day providing a wide range of programs
and services.
The new logo is comprised of five interconnecting circles. The circles signify the passage of time,
cycles and repetition – symbolizing the interconnectedness and continuity of care for those served by Suncoast
Hospice as they make selections from among an array of programs and services.
Mary J. Labyak, president and executive director of Suncoast Hospice said, “So many people already
know us as Suncoast Hospice, so I think shortening our name will be welcomed by everyone. We want to
stress that while we embrace our fresh, new logo and shorter name, our commitment to mission and service to
our community are unchanged and as strong as ever. We continue to focus on ensuring that every person in
our community has access to the best hospice care possible.”
