‘Famous Faces And Places of Latin America,’
And A Program For Hispanic Heritage Month
“Mr. Ray’s Musical Theater” presents “The Celebrations of the History of Latin America,“ a bilingual program on Latin American culture for schools.
Ray Olan, music, dance and theater instructor, has been performing this series of multicultural dance programs throughout the Florida school system this year. “Famous Faces and Places of Latin America” combines historical, geographical and cultural music and dance..
“The program teaches respect and character development through interactive family dances. Teachers and students dress up and dance to all of the customary music of Latin America,” he said. “With ‘Mr. Ray’ at the keyboards popular legends come to life.”
The first year of the course is a production year in which cast members gain extensive experience of performing in public. As a preparation for this year, students work on a series of projects, which are presented before an audience. Students take part in staged musicals with sets, costumes, lighting, sound and musical accompaniment.
Projects for first year of workshops give cast members the opportunity to put into practice the techniques they have learned and to develop their ability to combine the three disciplines of singing, dance and acting, Olan said.
Winter/Spring session programs for 2006/2007 are now being scheduled. Call 727-744-1569 or 727-744-3681.
