$500,000 Marlin Tournament Prize Helps Open Restaurant
Bobby Jacobsen, partner with Frank Chivas in his new ‘Marlin Darlin’ Restaurant at 2817 West Bay Drive, Belleair Bluffs, celebrated the restaurant’s opening in style.
Jacobsen, the owner and CEO of Jacobsen Homes in
Safety Harbor, received a $500,000 check from Capt. Norm Isaacs, host
of ESPN2’s popular Billfishing Xtreme Release League (BXRL) television
show and Cay Clubs International’s Chairman and CEO, Dave Clark, the
show’s $2 million title sponsor.
Jacobsen’s “Team Galati,” representing Carmine
Galati’s ‘Galati Yacht Sales’ seized first place in the last,
nail-biting minutes of the BXRL’s final event in Puerto Rico in
September.
Isaacs explained that the BXRL is the most extreme and grueling seven tournament series in the Caribbean.
According to Chivas, “The idea to start a restaurant
chain called ‘Marlin Darlin’ was born one evening after an awesome
day’s fishing in Venezuela. We decided to create a unique dining
experience with the look and feel of the salon and transom areas of the
world’s finest sport fishing vessels. We want people to feel and eat
like the kings of the sportfishing world.”
Chivas owns several Pinellas County fine dining
seafood restaurants including The Island Way Grill, Salt Rock Grill,
Hog Fish Grill and others.
