Tropical Breeze In Tanzania
John “Bumblefoot” Moeller, a retired professional clown and resident of Safety Harbor since 1969, frequently is visited by his friend and fellow professional clown Ron “Toto” Johnson. Formerly a clown with the Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus, Johnson now lives in Davenport, Iowa.
On a recent visit to Safety Harbor, Johnson told Moeller about his plan to visit Tarangire National Park, Tanzania, Africa. Moeller asked him to send back photos and be sure to take Tropical Breeze along.
Above, Johnson with Tropical Breeze at the Sopa Tarangire Lodge in the park, which is southeast of the famed Serengeti. It is known for its many Baobab trees and wildlife, including large herds of antelope, wildebeest, zebras, elephants, eland, oryx and more.
Indigenous to the area are the Maasai, whom
Johnson met in one of their villages and accompanied on a visit to a
beautiful, rocky waterfall.
Approximately 350,000 Maasai live
traditionally in Tanzania and Kenya.
