Musician Receives Grant For Unique 50-Volume CD Project
Guitarist Dave Eichenberger has been awarded an Artist Enhancement Grant by the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs for his unique CD project, “Collectives,” a 50 volume set consisting of 50 hour-long completely original, unique compositions. On Friday, Nov. 3, this massive body of work will be made available to the public at an unusual venue for a CD release party — an art gallery. The opening will be held at 6 p.m. at the Progress Energy Art Gallery, 6231 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey.
Eichenberger is the only artist from Pasco County to receive this grant this quarter . The grant was applied for as a means of funding the packaging, production and promotion of the 50 CD set.
“The State of Florida has been kind in recognizing the scope of this project,” Eichenberger said. “I am proud to represent Pasco county, as well as any artist that pushes the envelope with musical or visual art. The financing received will make this project not only easier, but possible.”
“The traditional approach to a CD release might
be to have it in a traditional performance space. Had I played
traditional music, this might be an option for me. Unfortunately, I
have limited options with ambient music,” Eichenberger said. “The
Progress Energy Art Gallery is known for showcasing some incredibly
talented artists, and I am hoping I can rise to that level with this
project.”
Eichenberger is a guitarist with 27 years of
experience in jazz improvisation, baroque and 20th century classical
composition with a penchant for looping devices, which allow him to
create highly saturated compositions consisting of multiple layers of
sound. He has performed at the Florida Folk Festival, Chasco Fiesta,
Cotee River Seafood Festival, Alachua Music Harvest, House of Blues,
Orlando, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Atlanda Progressive Music
Festival, MOSI, The Florida Aquarium, among others.
