Tropical Breeze At The Acropolis
Mike and Robin Sexton of Clearwater, formerly of Safety Harbor, took Tropical Breeze to Athens, Greece and posed in front of one of its most famous landmarks, the Parthenon. Built nearly 2,500 years ago, the architectural masterpiece was largely intact until it was used by the Turks as a powder magazine in the late 1600s. A shell from a beseiging Venetian army blew up the magazine, nearly destroying the ancient temple. Its decorative frieze and other sculptures were removed nearly two centuries later and transported to the British Museum, where they are known as the “Elgin Marbles” and continue to be a source of conflict with Greece, which demands their return.
