More than 6,000 lbs. — three
tons — of canned and other nonperishable foods were collected in the 2006 Letter
Carriers Food Drive in Safety Harbor. The local effort, which is part of an
annual, national event conducted by U.S.P.S. letter carriers, resulted in an
increase of more than 1,200 lbs. from 2005. Above, the donations are sorted and
shelved at the Church & Community Outreach (CCO) Food Pantry at Safety
Harbor’s Neighborhood Family Center (NFC).

Karen Fitzpatrick, executive director of the NFC, with Brian Strasser, Officer
in Charge for the Safety Harbor Post Office.
