…And At The Grand Canyon

If you want to get your friends’ attention, just
mention that you’re planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, according to
Ray Weaver of Clearwater. “Almost everyone in the group will tell you
their adventures there. And most people will state that they have been
there more than once. Some people will advise you to take the
helicopter ride over it, others will say to stay for several days and
ride the Colorado River rapids.
Recently,
my wife Ellie and I had the opportunity to visit the Canyon for the
first time. We took a bus ride through the desert to the south rim. The
pictures that you may have seen in books or on television do not
prepare you for the majesty of the Grand Canyon. You must see it
yourself to appreciate this miracle of nature.
The
colors in the Canyon are unbelievable — shades of brown, green and
violet are intermixed in an arrangement that only time and nature can
create. The area of land that this wonder of the world covers is
immense and it is over a mile down to the river.
If
you are planning to go to the Grand Canyon be sure to check the
expected temperatures at either the North or the South rim. Take a good
pair of walking shoes and a jacket to compensate for the brisk winds at
this higher elevation.
By
the way, the four days that we spent in Las Vegas were exciting, but
not nearly as memorable as the Canyon. If you have not seen this great
sight, be sure to put it on your future agenda. And oh, yes, don’t
forget your camera.”
