An impressive collection of exquisite
paintings, lithographs and sculptures by artist prodigy, Alexandra
Nechita, will be available for acquisition at Syd Entel Galleries,
Safety Harbor in September. The exhibit opens Sat., Sept. 8
followed by the artist appearing at the gallery on Saturday evening
and Sunday afternoon.
Born in Romania in 1985, Nechita
began drawing by age two and was painting with oils and acrylics by
the young age of seven. A year later her first exhibit was a
one-woman show held at a Los Angeles public library. Her
talent was instantly recognized as capacity crowds came to see her
amazing and often monumental paintings. After seeing her art,
the press described her genius as “Mozart with a
paintbrush” and “The Petite Picasso.”
A rarest of child prodigies, by age nine
Nechita was a master of drawing, creating a visual language of her
own in a unique, lyrical, figurative, abstract manner.
Today at 22, Nechita ’s
accomplishments are unrivaled for someone her age. She has
been recognized and honored as the official artist for the World
Federation of the United Nations, the 39th Annual Grammy Awards,
the Polaroid Corporation (50th Anniversary), and the World Peace
Music Awards. She has created works for Presidents Bill
Clinton and George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Singapore and The
Vatican and is collected by celebrities including Oprah Winfrey,
Debra Messing, Calvin Klein, Whoopi Goldberg and David
Letterman.
Her art is shown in museums and great
halls from throughout the world and has appeared on CNN, MTV, NBC
and in Art News, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times,
National Geographic World and more than 50 other national and
international media outlets. In April 2004, Teen People
called Nechita, “One of 20 Teens Who Will Change the
World!”
