The Kresge Foundation has awarded a
$750,000 Capital Challenge Grant to the Museum of Fine Arts, St.
Petersburg for the construction of the Hazel Hough Wing and the
renovation of the original building. Both the construction and
renovation are well under way. The new wing is scheduled to open in
March 2008.
The new wing will comprise approximately
39,000 square feet, more than doubling the current space. It honors
Hazel Hough, longtime docent, volunteer, and supporter and a former
trustee. Mrs. Hough and her husband, current MFA trustee William R.
Hough, are major philanthropists in the area and state.
A two-story glass Conservatory will join
the new wing to the current building. This signature addition will
more fully open up the Museum to its spectacular setting and will
invite passersby to step inside.
