It was a single piece, left, painted by famed pop artist Robert
Indiana that brought Jay Goulde and members of the Outdoor Arts
Foundation board nearly to tears when it was discovered. "We had
convinced ourselves that it wouldn't be there," Goulde said. The
collection had been in storage in Maine for more than 15 years
after being shipped to the U.S. and changed ownership at least
twice during that period. It was feared that the Indiana piece may
have been sold to a private collector. The collection is estimated
to be worth millions of dollars, but the single piece by Indiana is
considered nearly priceless. The collection includes 80 individual
pieces of the wall that were painted by three Russian artists in
celebration of the reunification of Germany in 1990.
