To the Editor:
In June of this year my 12-year-old
daughter, Monika, was diagnosed with a form of cancer, Hodgkins
lymphoma, stage III. No sooner than word spread, we received
calls, cards, visits, donations, acts of kindness, prayers and
heartfelt expressions of concern. We would like to thank everyone
personally but so much was done anonymously. We hope that this
public note of gratitude will reach all those who have contributed
in any way.
Monika will not be able to attend school
this coming fall semester. She really likes school, is involved in
sports and activities, does well academically, has a great attitude
and just enjoys being a kid. She would have been in the 7th
grade at Safety Harbor Middle School.
We send sincere thanks to the many
generous sponsors, coaches, managers, parents and teammates with
Safety Harbor Little League, Safety Harbor Majors Softball teams,
District 12 Little League Baseball and Softball All-Star
Tournaments, the Safety Harbor Recreation Center summer youth
basketball program and the Countryside Recreation Center summer
youth basketball program. We also want to thank the Lady Seahawks
(members of the Safety Harbor Middle School girls basketball,
volleyball and track teams), and classmates and staff from Safety
Harbor Middle School. Thanks also to our neighbors, friends,
employees at local businesses who always ask how we are doing, and
my co-workers.
This outpouring of community support is
overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Thank you.
