Group To Fight School Closings |

To the Editor:
On Tuesday, July 10 the Pinellas County
School Board announced the possible closing of ten Pinellas
schools.
We are announcing the creation of our
organization and the launch of our
website, www.citizensforschools.info.
Citizens for Schools is a grassroots
organization consisting of parents, and concerned citizens
determined to ensure that not only every school in Pinellas County
stays open, but is adequately funded. According to San Jose
Elementary School Principal Ms. Wilcox, “the school board
intends to make their final decision on August 23rd,” only
two days after the start of the 2007-2008 school year. We are
concerned by implications of their timing regarding this
decision.
