Joyce C. Hobbs, 76, Safety Harbor, died
June 3, 2007 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was
born in Montreal and came here in 1996 from Saudi Arabia. She was a
member of Chapel by the Sea, Clearwater Beach. She became a U.S.
citizen in 1963. Survivors include a son, Mark, Philadelphia; a
daughter, Heidi L. Hobbs, St. Petersburg; and a granddaughter, Kate
Hobbs, Philadelphia.
Lillian White, 92, Safety Harbor, died
June 4, 2007 at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs. She
was born in Manchester, NH, and moved here in 1970 from Detroit.
She worked for many years as a clerk at the Dolphin Curio Shop,
Tarpon Springs. She was Catholic. Survivors include a daughter,
Denise Wilson, Safety Harbor; a sister, Estelle Bourque,
Manchester; and a granddaughter, Erin Wilson.
Janice A. Bande, 66, Safety Harbor, died
June 5, 2007 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was
born in Oak Park, IL, and came here in 1989 from Elgin, IL. She
enjoyed reading and taking care of others. Survivors include her
husband of 46 years, Rafael; four sons, Duane Myers, Valparaiso,
IN, Carlos Bande, Crystal Lake, IL, Raul Bande, Safety Harbor, and
Carlos Felipez, Clearwater; five daughters, Alicia Barnes, Pawleys
Island, NC, Triana Dowrick, Chandler, AZ, Natalie Feldman,
Clearwater, Raquel Wernicke, Stow, OH, and Carmen Raymond, Valrico;
a brother, Frank Blaha, Jr., Sparta, WI; two sisters, Paullette
Fox, Oxford, WI, and Jeri Lynn Cheney, Beloit, WI; 20
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Rose D. Moore, 88, Safety Harbor, died
June 5, 2007 at home. She was born in Chicopee, MA, and moved here
in 1979 from White Plains, NY. She graduated from the
teacher&rsquos college at East Stroudsburg University and
received a nursing certificate from nursing school at Springfield
Hospital, Massachusetts. She was a member and elder at Peace
Memorial Church, Clearwater, American Association of University
Women, the White Plains Women&rsquos Club, the White Plains
Garden Club, Floralia 6, Tampa Bay Judges Council and was a
nationally accredited flower judge. She was the 2006-07 Outstanding
Senior Volunteer at North Ward Elementary, Clearwater. Survivors
include two sons, David, Deerfield Beach, and Matthew, Barrytown,
NY; many nieces and nephews; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah
Ann, Tom, Jeremy and Christopher; and five great-grandchildren.
Lorene H. Carter, 97, Safety Harbor died
June 7, 2007 at West Bay Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She
was born November 25, 1909 in Newton Grove, NC and moved from
Massachusetts to Tampa in 1987 and to Safety Harbor in 1989. She
was a past member of and heavily involved with Harborside Christian
Church. She was a devoted mother, nurturer and wonderful cook who
would travel among her children&rsquos homes to to visit with
them and their children. Survivors include a son, James E. Carter,
Virginia; a brother, Lenny House, North Carolina; six
grandchildren, Michael, Dennis, Randy, Pamela, Vicky and Karen; six
great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Edith Marie Armistead, 88, Safety Harbor,
died June 8, 2007 at Mease Countryside Hospital. She was born in
Granville, TN, and retired here in 1987 from St. Clair Shores, MI,
where she had taught school since 1958. Her interests included
history, current events, gardening and travel. Survivors include
two daughters, Linda F. Armistead and Jessica Susan DeWolf, both of
Clearwater; and two grandchildren, Julie A. Waxenburg and Eric M.
De Wolf.
Carl W. Fruechtemeyer, 83, of Clearwater,
formerly of Safety Harbor, died June 9, 2007 at Harbor Woods
Nursing Center. He was born August 4, 1923 in Cincinnati, OH. He
moved from Cincinnati to Marco Island, FL in 1971, and in 1987 to
Safety Harbor, then to Clearwater one year ago. He was the
owner/manager of the Marco Villa Motel on Marco Island. He served
during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of Espiritu
Santo Catholic Church. He was a Grand Knight with the Knights of
Columbus in Safety Harbor; VFW of Safety Harbor; and Rotary on
Marco Island. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth
(Liz); daughters Linda Cooper of Safety Harbor; Suzy Rost of
Cincinnati and Jenny Rogers of Katy, TX, six grandchildren and six
great grandchildren.
Carolyn L. Johnson, 60, Safety Harbor,
died June 12, 2007 at home. She was a native of Safety Harbor and
worked in providing in-home care services to families. She attended
Emanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church Apostolic Faith, Safety Harbor.
Survivors include two sons, Alexis Davis, St. Petersburg, and Ray
Davis, Safety Harbor; three daughters, Belinda Maxwell, Clearwater,
Angenette Gatlin, Holiday, and Mary K. Guzman, St. Petersburg; her
mother, Mary Ellen Dampier, Safety Harbor; a brother, Roysie
Johnson, Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Joyce Johnson, Safety Harbor;
14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Dawn M. Webb, 67, Safety Harbor, died June
12, 2007 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was born
in Detroit, and came here in 1982 from West Bloomfield, MI. She was
an interior design manager and Methodist. She enjoyed cooking,
decorating and entertaining. Survivors include her husband of 26
years, Emmett H.; two daughters, Candace N. Krol, Altadena, CA, and
Cameryn L. Krol, Maomb, MI; two stepsons, Emmitt A. Webb, Brandon,
MS, and Michael K. Webb, Troy, MI; her mother, Georgine J. Curran,
Clearwater; a sister, Jade R. Demicoli, Palm Harbor; and several
nieces and nephews.
Anna M. Root, 83, Safety Harbor, formerly
of Largo, died June 13, 2007 at Evergreen Manor Retirement Home,
Safety Harbor. She moved to Largo in 1971 from her native Erie, PA,
and later came here. She was a longtime member of the Pinellas
Seminole Booster Club. Survivors include her husband of 63 years,
Richard C.; a daughter, Barbara Schuler, Safety Harbor; a grandson,
Jason Schuler, Melbourne; and a granddaughter, Chlesea Schuler,
Safety Harbor.
Jean E. Quinn, Safety Harbor, died June
19, 2007 at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. She was born in
Ontario, and came here in the early 1990s from New York. She was a
registered nurse and volunteered at the Safety Harbor Library.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Quinn, New York.
Tracy Lynn &ldquoLil T&rdquo
&ldquoDowntown Tracy Brown&rdquo Brown, 29, Safety Harbor,
died June 20, 2007 at home. She was born in Clearwater, and was a
longtime Pinellas County resident. She was a graduate of
Countryside High School where she lettered in softball and
basketball. Survivors include her parents, Joan Hayes, Safety
Harbor, and Douglas Brown, Masaryktown; and a sister, Jodi Yale,
Safety Harbor.
Mary Anderson, 64, Safety Harbor, died
June 27, 2007 at home. She was born in Wisconsin and came here in
1993. She worked many years for Sears. Survivors include her
husband, John; two sons, Troy Grimm, Venice, FL, and Todd Grimm,
Port Charlotte; a daughter, Kelly Gorman, Orlando; and three
grandchildren, Todd Grimm, Connor Gorman and Dalton Gorman.
Dorothy D. Neckar, 87, Safety Harbor, died
June 29, 2007 at Sylvan Health Center, Clearwater. She was born
December 1, 1919 in Chicago and came here in 1980 from Arlington
Heights, IL. She worked for Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Co.
She attended Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Safety Harbor. She
enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her husband of 64 years,
Louis; two daughters, Barbara Silverman, Palm Harbor, and Susan
Tighe, Safety Harbor; and three grandchildren, Alicia, Caitie and
Ryan.
