Industry Leaders Gather To Promote Renewable Energy E-mail
Wednesday, 01 August 2007

Florida is continuing to move forward with efforts to promote the production of renewable energy, including ethanol made from agriculture waste and other woody products.

Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles H. Bronson kicked off the 2007 Farm to Fuel Summit on in July, bringing together hundreds of industry leaders in agriculture, petroleum, academia, financial institutions and government who want to make Florida a leader in the production of renewable energy.

The summit included presentations on such topics as “Cellulosic Ethanol” and “Biofuels for Consumers.”

“The public wants and deserves to have access to reasonably priced fuels that do not harm the environment,” Bronson said.

Participants heard about where Florida currently stands with alternative fuel production facilities, the latest production technologies and presented ideas for the future direction of renewable fuels in this state.

“I think by bringing together the best minds from the various industries that can make that happen, Florida can be a model for other states,” Bronson said.
