Laura R. Peckham, 95, of White Lake, MI,
formerly of Safety Harbor, died April 10, 2007. She was born and
raised in Ralston, PA, and graduated from Mansfield College in
Pennsylvania, where she received a bachelor&rsquos degree in
teaching. She was a member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church,
Walled Lake, MI, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors
include a daughter, Anna Mae Anderson; six grandchildren, David
Wilburn, Jay Wilburn, Bonnie Larabell, Marilyn Fitzpatrick, Dawn
Weimer and David Anderson; and many great-grandchildren.
Charles W. Stuckey, 80, of Safety Harbor,
died April 28, 2007 at home. He was born in Flushing, NY, and came
here in 2002 from Little Neck, NY. He was Protestant. Survivors
include two daughters, Jessica and Melissa; a brother, Frank T.,
Safety Harbor; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Gus A. Friscia, 82, of Safety Harbor, died
May 6, 2007 at home. He was born in Manhattan, NY, and moved here
in 1975 from Brooklyn. He worked as a serviceman for business
machines and was a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Safety
Harbor. Survivors include a brother, Dominic, Clearwater; and
several nieces and nephews.
Homer Claude Rigsby, 82, of Safety Harbor,
died May 8, 2007 at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. Born
March 6, 1925 in Safety Harbor, he was a lifelong resident. He was
a local civic leader, Clearwater police Officer, Pinellas County
sheriff&rsquos deputy and two-term mayor of Safety Harbor. He
served more than 16 years on the City Commission, including serving
as an interim commissioner during the past year. He also held
several positions in state and local government. He served in the
U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church of
Safety Harbor. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joanne; a
son, James, Elfers; two daughters, Linda Schroeder, Safety Harbor,
and Diane Fowler, Brooksville; a twin brother, Herman Clyde Rigsby,
Safety Harbor; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Margaret D. Platow, 71, of Safety Harbor,
died May 9, 2007 at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida
Suncoast. She was born in Mineola, NY, and moved here in 1974 from
Long Island, NY. She worked as an office manager. Survivors include
two sons, Michael D., and Christopher, both of Safety Harbor; two
daughters, Maria and Heidi A. Platow, both of Safety Harbor; a
sister, Caroline Conza, East Northport, NY; and a grandson, Ryan C.
Platow, Safety Harbor.
Edward Joseph Teehan, 81, of Safety
Harbor, died May 15, 2007 at home under care of Hospice of the
Florida Suncoast. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved here in
1990. He worked as a computer technician for ITT. He was a Navy
veteran of World War II and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific
Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and
the World War II Victory Medal. He was Catholic. Survivors include
his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Patricia Cariglio, Sebastian; a
stepdaughter, Diane Scoza, Safety Harbor; two grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
Shirley Mae Palmer, 79, of Clearwater,
formerly of Safety Harbor, died May 16, 2007 at Mease Dunedin
Hospital. She moved to Safety Harbor in 1992 from her native
Chicago. She worked as a telephone operator in hotels. She was a
member of First Presbyterian Church, Safety Harbor, and Bethel
Presbyterian Church, Clearwater. She enjoyed socializing, shopping,
dining and watching sports, especially Chicago teams. There are no
known survivors.
Frances &ldquoFifi&rdquo Koch, 90,
of Safety Harbor, died May 23, 2007 at Mease Countryside Hospital,
Safety Harbor. She moved here in 1977 from her native Chicago. She
worked over 40 years as an operator for Illinois Bell Telephone Co.
She was a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Safety Harbor.
She enjoyed playing bingo and gardening. Survivors include a
daughter, Warrenetta Murray, Henderson, NV; a son, Ronald,
Philippines; two sisters, Virginia Lofgren, Safety Harbor, and Joan
Kielbowski, Brandon; three grandchildren, Megan Woodmansee, Beth
Long and Jimmy Murray; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
Donald James Nostrom, 62, of Safety
Harbor, died May 21, 2007 at home. He was born in Queens, NY, and
retired here in 2005 from Pawling, NY. He worked 30 years as a
boilermaker and was a member of the International Brotherhood of
Boilermakers Local 5. He had a passion for nature. Survivors
include his wife of 38 years, Judith; and two daughters, Rachel and
Sarah.
Lillian F. Seufert, 85, of Safety Harbor,
died May 22, 2007 at home. She was born in Baltimore, and came here
in 2007 from North Huntingdon, PA. She was a manager of a dress
shop and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Irwin,
PA. Survivors include two sons, Joe, Safety Harbor, and Kevin,
Vista, CA; a sister, Pearl Griffin, Baltimore; four grandchildren;
and a great-grandchild.
Ann Hodek, 87, of Safety Harbor, died May
23, 2007 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was born
in Boston and came here in 1980 from Chicago. She worked as a
supervisor for Television Laboratories in Wauconda, IL. She was a
member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Safety Harbor. Survivors
include a son, Al, Santa Clarita, CA; a daughter, Deborah Hodek
Ahlgren, Safety Harbor; five grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
Lynn M. Malek, 59, of Safety Harbor, died
May 29, 2007 at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. She was born
in Ironwood, MI, and came here in 1984 from Wauconda, IL. She was
an artist, arts and crafts instructor and Catholic. Survivors
include her husband of 36 years, Edward; a daughter, Rebecca Ann
Malek, and a son, Tim, both of Safety Harbor; four sisters, Gayle
Lane, Hoffman Estates, IL, Susan Price, Marengo, IL, and Barbara
Powell and Debra Gunderson, both of Carpentersville, IL; and four
brothers, Kevin Gunderson, Hampshire, IL, David Gunderson, Elgin,
IL, and James and Tom Gunderson, both of Carpentersville.
