Reader Opposes College Students Carrying Guns E-mail
Friday, 01 June 2007

To the Editor,

It’s hard to fathom the idea that state officials are considering allowing college students to carry guns. Have they been given over to reprobate minds?

Each year during spring break we hear of drunk and rowdy college students being killed falling off hotel balconies. What headlines can we expect to read in the newspapers if they carry guns? What about the disgruntled student who didn’t quite get the grade he or she thought they deserved who seeks revenge against the professor, or who seeks revenge against a fellow student over a disagreement?

This trend toward “Dodge City Universities” is frightening and ludicrous to say the least and if allowed, we’ll need to be sure to set aside a piece of land at each college known as “Boot Hill.”
