The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Animals (SPCA) Tampa Bay will provide free spay-neuter surgeries
to the first 100 pets of people with limited income Feb. 27-Mar. 3
in recognition of National Spay/Neuter Day.
Spaying and neutering is a simple surgery
that decreases the chances for many types of cancer and infections,
especially if performed before the pet reaches maturity, according
to the SPCA Tampa Bay.
The Largo shelter works with local
veterinarians to offer surgeries at no cost. Service includes pet
vaccinations. In addition, the SPCA offers year-round free
spay/neuter surgeries to pit bull terriers and pit bull mixes.
To qualify, applicants must apply in
person with a recent 1040 form, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tues.-Fri. at the
SPCA, 9099 130th Ave. N., Largo.
There are many specials throughout the
Tampa Bay area where pet owners can get their pet spayed or
neutered for little to no cost. The SPCA is the referral service
for many discounted or free spay and neuter specials in the Tampa
Bay area. Call 727-586-3591 or visit www.SPCATampaBay.org.
