Oscor, Inc., one of the leading medical
device manufacturers in the Southeast has announced a major
expansion of its facilities in Palm Harbor. The company designs,
manufactures and markets highly specialized permanent and temporary
pacing lead systems that are used in connection with implantable
and temporary pacemaker systems to treat cardiac disorders.
Oscor's expansion will add 55 new jobs to
its Pinellas County operations. The company also will add 20,000
sq. ft. of new construction adjacent to its existing 40,000 sq. ft.
facility. The expansion is slated to include clean room space, as
well as plastic injection molding facilities and a larger assembly
area.
Founded in 1982 by Dr. Peter Osypka, the
company has grown to more than 100 employees. Oscor has established
a strong market position nationally and internationally.
"Our focus on quality and innovation has
allowed us to continue to expand our operations. We've found
Pinellas County allows us easy access to our customers in North and
South America, as well as our Caribbean operations," explained
Thomas Osypka, Oscor's president and CEO and son of its
founder.
For this current expansion, Oscor was
approved for Florida's Qualified Targeted Industry tax refund
program. This program is available to new and expanding Florida
businesses in targeted, high-growth industries that create at least
10 new jobs paying 115 percent of the average annual wage.
