All women veterans in the State of
Florida, including those who served in the past, are currently
serving or are on active duty, are sought by the Florida Women
Veterans Coordinator, Larri Gerson, who has information on benefits
and services.
Gerson, who works for the Florida
Department of Veteran's Affairs, said the numbers of women on
active duty and those who have served in all branches of the
military are increasing by the day.
As of May 31, 2006 more than 131,000 women
in Florida were veterans. Today, the women on active duty make
up 17% of the total active duty, National Guard and Reserves in
Florida, she said.
